Colonial Tea at Nathaniel's School

My mom and I were able to go to Nathaniel's school last week for a Colonial Tea...they have been learning about Colonial times. It was really cute the costumes they made and the little dance and the poems they recited. Then they were served hot tea (brought from England by one of the little girls grandmas) with sugar cubes and milk, as well as, scones and pumpkin muffins. Nathaniel loved the tea..he must have asked for 4 cups! All the kids had fun and my mom and I enjoyed ourselves! Nathaniel looked adorable..poor little man is so tiny and John's dress shirt was so big for him even tucked in and rolled up....although I must say he was the cutest Colonial guy there ;)

Miles of Smiles :)

In the month of November (sorry I have been busy and now trying to go back and see what was good to blog about) The Virginia Living Museum hosted "The Miles of Smiles" event for Special Needs children's and their sibling and caretakers. We all got to go for free...we had never been so it was a neat experience for us all. The kids really enjoyed it...and their favorite part was that they gave each kid a gift back and in the gift bags were Webkins. My kids don't have any and they were so excited!!! I didn't even know what they were or why they were so happy to get them...I have since been educated :) It was a fun evening for us all...Gabriel's favorite part was the "Squeaker" (that's what he calls squirrels) in a cage ( funny since we have a million in our own yard) and the special needs kids and young adults who performed karate show! He said Hi Ya! for many days afterwards :)

Seem Grandma is all tied up at the moment!

The kids have decided that they are not ready to send grandma back to California yet..... So they have taken measures to assure she will miss her plane tomorrow morning!
They mean business!

Mom arrives in Virginia for the BIG Surprise!

We managed to keep it a HUGE secret that mom was flying in this week..to be here for Destinee's 13th birthday and also Thanksgiving. I picked her up from the airport Weds. night..snuck her in the back door and locked her upstairs in my bedroom until the kids left for school. Well..she came out and saw Spencer and Nathaniel before they left for school...they had huge tears in their eyes and they kept saying I can't believe she is here...then we put a big purple bow on mom and had her sitting in Destinee's room on her bed and when Dest and Junior came home from school they opened Destinee's door and threw their backpacks down and pounced on her...of course they all hugged and cried! Then Gabriel got off his school bus and mom was waiting int he living room for him..and he walked in stopped in his tracks and just looked at her with a big grin for a few minutes then ran and hugged her and Said "No you're goofy!" (that is their secret game) then he just sat on her lap and next to her for the next 30 minutes just looking up at her with this grin on his face...probably trying to figure out how and why she was in his house! It was really sweet...so everyone is super excited that she is here and can't wait to take her on the Ferry and to Waller Mill park and the Yankee candle store....She will be here until Dec. 1st and then it will be hard to say good bye again!
